Seven years is only the beginning

Hub and I celebrated our 7th anniversary yesterday. We took Monday off work and spent the weekend in Hot Springs, AR. It's mostly a tourist town and well-known for it's natural hot springs and Bathhouse Row. We planned our trip fairly last-minute, unfortunately, so we didn't visit any spas. (They're too expensive anyway.) But we spent lots of time walking around the town enjoying the sights, despite the ridiculous humidity and hot temperatures.

Fordyce Bathhouse (above) is now a historical sight. I've never seen anything like it. As we wandered through the old rooms still in their original state, I could visualize Al Capone and other famous people enjoying a good massage or steamed baths. In the pictures, you can see Hub standing in the men's dressing room (stalls to the left) and some old lockers.

Other than sweating outdoors, we spent half an hour at Oaklawn gambling away $15 in cash on gaming machines that we didn't know how to use -- we're not gamblers -- and then went to the mall to kill some time.

After leaving the mall, we decided to drive downtown to find something to eat. The traffic was backed up for miles and soon we realized there had been a microburst storm in downtown. It was one of the craziest things we've ever seen.

Pictured left: A flower pot chained to a pole had been picked up and slung into a wall and debris had been swept into large piles.

Pictured right: A stop sign had been twisted completely around and bent by the winds.

We didn't do anything really spectacular during the trip, but it is definitely one of the top three vacations I've ever taken with Hub. We needed it badly, to relax and have no plans or itinerary to follow. We laughed so much and it felt great to be spontaneous together. On Sunday afternoon we took a random nap at the hotel -- lovely! And later, we ended up playing miniature golf at 10pm and eating a snack at Applebees afterward just because we could. Then, on the way home, we spontaneously decided to drive 20 miles out of the way to visit a town we'd never seen before... just because we could. Gosh, I love traveling with Hub.

Somehow I feel that we got our mojo back during this trip. We haven't drifted, but life is just so dang busy, you know. This trip made us feel like love-sick teenagers again. Pure awesomeness. I really couldn't be happier with anyone else in the world.
