We were so grateful to have a longer, holiday weekend to recoop and finally get some things done. Hub worked away from home for the past couple weeks and having him home again is incredibly relieving. (Hi, Hub! I missed you!) (And thanks to my mom for spending one night with me last week. I love girl time.)
We spent Saturday at the family farm getting some things together for the upcoming deer season. The boys hung a new treestand for me (yay!) while I admired the scenery. Part of me wouldn't mind living here.
Besides having a new pond built on the front side of the property, Hub had the old pond cleaned and cleared of brush. It looks wonderful. The wildlife seems to be enjoying it too. We have found tracks all around it.
This is where I'd like to set my house with a beautiful view of the pasture from the front door.
And a beautiful view of the valley from the back porch. Wouldn't it be nice?
One of my favorite things about the farm is all the huge, old Oak trees. They just beg for swings and treehouses. And there are Horse Apples...
...and giant acorns.
I am closer than I appear... sitting in the truck while the men work hard(ly).
The old barn is pretty nifty. The large gash, we suspect, happened when Grandpa drove the tractor too close several years ago. But he would never admit it. Rest his soul! There are so many good memories here. It is definitely one of my favorite places.

Definitely a "squishy", Sissy! I love you and all of your writing and photography! - Dad
ReplyDeleteI would love to be sitting in a swing hanging from a big oak tree. I could sit there all day! :)
